Harnessing Opportunities Between North
& South America
While North and South America share many common values, the most important lesson I’ve learned is the strong focus on productivity and efficient use of resources that is especially prominent in North America. In particular, the U.S. and Canada emphasize these values in both businesses and individual entrepreneurs. For me, this has been one of the most significant takeaways in my professional and business journey.
In North America, there’s a clear results-oriented mindset, which goes hand in hand with building strong teams and maintaining a continuous alignment between organizational goals and those of their executives. This culture of efficiency and focus on achieving measurable outcomes has had a profound impact on how I approach business and leadership, and it’s a lesson I carry with me in every project I manage across both regions.
The main challenge in Latin America is the technological lag in many companies, particularly in their management and commercial systems. Ironically, this also presents a great opportunity, as the potential for rapid digital transformation in these businesses is immense. By adopting new technologies, companies can see significant improvements in productivity and, most importantly, experience a quick return on investment.
In many cases, potential clients are willing to embrace these changes, but a combination of uncertainty around the economic outlook in their respective countries and a fear of operational challenges holds them back from making the leap. For a consulting firm like Mokhtar Group, this represents an opportunity. We can guide these businesses through the digital transition, helping them overcome their hesitation and realize the full benefits of modernization.
From the beginning of my career in management positions, working with subsidiaries of international companies in Argentina that have strong ties to both North and South America has allowed me to clearly see the barriers to market entry as well as the opportunities. A key aspect of my experience has been navigating the cultural nuances between regions, which is essential to avoid friction when developing business relationships and ensuring smooth operations.
Listening to potential clients, understanding their difficulties and challenges, is crucial in consulting and lays the foundation for achieving tangible business results. For me, this ability to listen has been invaluable in my consulting work, where understanding a client’s specific needs leads to more effective outcomes.
In consulting, demonstrating flexibility and adapting proposals to meet local demands is essential. This adaptability is key to creating relevant and impactful business strategies that truly resonate with clients and help them achieve their goals.
Given the rapid acceleration of technology, particularly the growing impact of artificial intelligence, it’s clear that this will shape the future of business and drive the nature of investments. Most companies, especially those outside the tech sector, are observing this shift with a sense of uncertainty. They often find themselves enveloped in this “cloud” of technological change, unsure of how to approach it, lacking a clear strategy, and—most importantly—unsure how to leverage it for competitive advantage.
This is particularly true in industries where financial flows are strong, such as education, healthcare, and the arts, though not all countries experience this surplus equally. The challenge for many companies is not only understanding these technological advancements but also developing the strategies to turn them into opportunities for growth and innovation within their sectors.
